Plenty of providers quote a low number and then charge for the things that make it work: the site visit, the network gear, the security tooling, the after-hours call. Ours is one number with all of it inside, and the list below is the whole of it, written for someone who does not work in IT. Most businesses have software that raises an alert and nobody awake to read it. Huntress gives you a staffed security operations centre: when something looks wrong at 2am, a person investigates it and calls us if it matters. Software catches the obvious. People catch the clever.
The most common way businesses get hit now is not a virus. It is someone buying a working password and signing in as your accounts person. Identity threat detection watches for that: a login from the wrong country, mail rules quietly forwarding invoices, a sign-in at 3am. It flags the things that look like a person rather than a mistake.
Nearly every break-in uses a hole the vendor already fixed. We patch Windows and the applications on top of it, on a schedule, and we check they actually applied — because an update that failed quietly is the same as no update at all. You get a monthly report showing what was patched and what is outstanding.
Defender for Endpoint is already in Business Premium, and in most businesses we take over it has never been configured. We turn it on properly, tune it so it blocks without getting in your way, and feed what it sees into the same place everything else is watched from. You are paying for it either way. This way it works.
Some things cannot be fixed down a wire. A dead switch, a cabling fault, a machine that will not boot, a new office fit-out. On-site attendance is part of every agreement, and we do not bill a callout on top. Providers who charge per visit end up making the decision for you about whether a problem is worth looking at.
Network equipment is where a surprising number of providers draw the line and start quoting. We do not. Switches, firewalls, access points and the wireless your staff actually complain about are supported inside the same fee as everything else, because a business that cannot get online does not care which box caused it.
Support is backed by response and resolution targets written into your agreement, not a promise about how much we care. A full outage carries a one-hour response and a four-hour resolution target, and the scale runs down from there. If we miss an agreed target you are credited 2% of that month's invoice for the breach, capped at 25%. The same targets apply to every managed client; there is no premium tier that buys you the response you already thought you were paying for.
Microsoft scores how well your tenant is actually configured and publishes the recommendations behind the number. Most businesses have never looked at it. We aim every client we run at a high score, and holding it there is part of the agreement, not a project you get quoted for.
The part that matters is what happens afterwards. Microsoft changes what good looks like constantly, and we implement the new recommendations as they land, a few at a time. The alternative is the thing the industry has normalised: leaving it for a year, then selling you a hardening project to catch up to a standard that moved while nobody was watching.
Once a year we sit down with you and go through what you are running, what is coming to end of life, where the money is going and what should change in the next twelve months. Not a sales meeting. A plan you can take to your board, with the awkward items left in. Then we keep going back to it: regular check-ins through the year, so the plan bends when your business does instead of sitting in a drawer until the next review.
Most provider portals give you a list and a status, which tells you nothing about whether anyone is moving. Ours puts the SLA counter on the ticket — the same clock we are measured against, running where you can see it rather than somewhere we can. If a response target is getting close, it is as obvious to you as it is to us.
Anyone who wants the whole picture can have it. There is an all-tickets view, so an office manager or an IT lead can see everything raised across the business, not only what they logged themselves. And during onboarding we sit with you and build templates for the requests that come up again and again — new starter, new laptop, access change — so the detail we need arrives with the ticket instead of being chased over three emails.
Most providers treat documentation as leverage. The network diagram, the licence register, how the firewall was configured, what connects to what — all of it kept somewhere only they can reach. It is what makes leaving expensive, and it is why so many businesses genuinely do not know what they own.
We give you access to yours. You can look at it whenever you like, and if you ever go somewhere else, it goes with you. A provider who needs to hold your documentation to keep you is telling you something about the work.

Because two businesses with the same number of laptops can be a year apart in effort. Application control is the expensive part, and not because of the licence — it is the work of deciding what is allowed to run on your machines and then handling the exceptions forever after. The uplift also covers the extra logging that maturity evidence rests on. Where you land inside that depends on how far your current environment is from the level you need, which is what an assessment establishes.
