In June 2026 Microsoft made Copilot Cowork generally available. Where regular Copilot drafts and suggests, Cowork runs complex, multi-step tasks end to end, working across your apps and data and returning finished results rather than a starting point. It runs on Anthropic's Claude models (Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6), grounds its work in your business context, and stays inside your Microsoft 365 trust boundary.
It's powerful, and it changes the risk picture. An agent that acts across your data and browses the web on your behalf amplifies any oversharing or permission gaps you already have. Cowork is off by default for a reason: it needs admin enablement, usage controls, and a tenant that's actually in order first. Get your data classification and governance right, then turn it on for a pilot group with spending limits in place.
We help businesses adopt Cowork the same way we deploy Copilot: governance first, a controlled pilot, then a measured rollout. Read our full breakdown of what Cowork means for Australian businesses.
